The Danish Maritime Authority announced on Wednesday the strengthening of monitoring of oil transports sailing in the waters north of the Skagen strait. The aim of this measure is to ensure the safety of navigation and protect the marine environment in that sensitive area. This step has been taken based on recommendations issued by the International Maritime Organization and the Skagen Strait Monitoring Organization. In this context, the spokesperson for the authority stated: "There is a great importance for the safety of navigation in the region, and we are working on various fronts with the relevant authorities to ensure adherence to environmental and maritime laws."
