Victoria Theilvig from Denmark has made history by winning the Miss Universe 2024 title in Mexico City, marking the first for her country and ending Europe's eight-year drought.

Victoria Theilvig from Denmark has won the title of Miss Universe 2024, surpassing candidates from more than 120 countries in the finale held in Mexico City. This victory signifies Denmark's first Miss Universe crown and breaks Europe's eight-year dry spell, with the previous win by France in 2016.

Theilvig, a former professional dancer and entrepreneur, founded her own eyelash extension business at the age of 16. She considers herself a creative person who is motivated by her advocacies for animal protection, mental health, and volunteerism. In her acceptance speech, she expressed her deep emotions by stating, 'To win the crown for Denmark means everything to me. I want to make history not only for Denmark but also for Europe, which has never secured a Miss Universe title before.'

The newly-crowned Miss Universe devoted time and effort to prepare for the competition, working towards her lifelong aspiration. She emphasized her extensive preparations by traveling worldwide, believing that a holistic approach was essential to create a well-rounded package for the Miss Universe contest. Demonstrating her commitment to representing Europe prominently in the pageantry world, Theilvig remarked, 'I wish to show the world that Europe can shine as brightly as any other region.'

The top five finalists included Nigeria as the 1st runner-up, Mexico as the 2nd runner-up, Thailand as the 3rd runner-up, and Venezuela as the 4th runner-up. Victoria Theilvig expressed her gratification for achieving her lifelong goal by stating, 'This is what I have been working for my whole life.'
