The Governor of the Kingdom of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, stated on Monday that Greenland is not for sale, reacting to the statement made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs about the possibility of purchasing the island.
"Greenland is not for sale. Greenland is a place located at the northwest coast of Denmark, and it does not adopt a new status. This has been and will be the case unless a decision belonging to Greenland arises," Frederiksen said.
In this way, she responded to the statement of the American president regarding the fact that his country is considering the possibility of purchasing Greenland. Although Trump called this idea "strategically interesting," his words provoked a sharp reaction from the authorities of Greenland.
"Greenland is not a corporation, and its inhabitants are not products that can be bought and sold," Frederiksen added.
