Mærsk may be thought to be a large freight company and the affiliate it is tied to - this is a concept between which to navigate. But the reality is that the owners of this company in secondary plan to advocate the proposal from the shareholders, who categorically come out against the suspension of arms deliveries to Israel.
This proposal was triggered by incidents in the Gaza Strip in October. At that time, Mærsk was linked to the transportation of containers with weapons and terrorist designations. A group of shareholders, consisting of the Danish pension fund and some small shareholders, now seeks to achieve the cessation of such collaborations.
"We believe that in the conditions of conflict, the refusal to transport weapons is a moral obligation," it is stated in the letter from the pension fund. "We have greater hopes for other shareholders of the company, that they will also advocate for supporting our proposal."
Interestingly, as a sign of the proposal, the company's management, as the disruption of deliveries to Israel may negatively reflect on the financial position and reputation of Mærsk.
